GIFTED SERVICES

GIFTED STUDENTS ARE THOSE WHO HAVE DEMONSTRATED OUTSTANDING ABILITIES, ARE CAPABLE OF HIGH PERFORMANCE, AND WHO REQUIRE DIFFERENTIATED EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS, BEYOND THOSE NORMALLY PROVIDED BY REGULAR SCHOOL PROGRAMS, IN ORDER TO REALIZE THEIR POTENTIAL.

Students can be recommended for testing by teacher, administration or parent. There is a universal screening for all 2nd-grade students.

Southwest Leadership Academy Charter School will identify students who are gifted in one or more of four major categories:

  • Superior cognitive ability

  • Specific Academic ability

  • Creative thinking ability

  • Specific academic ability

    • Math

    • Reading/ Writing

    • Science
